What is Ultra Phaco procedure like?
In Ultra Phaco, the hard cataract is broken by the ultrasound power into minute pieces. It is then sucked out through an incision which is very small - approximately 1.5-2.8mm. A foldable lens is then implanted. The soft construction allows the lens implant to be folded for insertion through a 1.5 to 2.8 mm micro incision. Once the lens is in place, it unfolds to a regular size which is at 6 mm. The entire procedure takes up to 5-8 minutes. The removal of cataract takes just 2 minutes.
If you've had conventional cataract treatment in one eye, you can still opt for Ultra Phaco surgery on the second eye.

This procedure also utilizes an artificial lens and therefore requires longer recovery time for the sutures to heal while requiring an eye patch after the surgery.
